Disabling the Mains Meter
The Mains type field in the station configuration selects the meter or
inverter the station reads grid values from. Setting it back to --- turns
that reading off. This page describes what the station does with the other
fields in the Mains options block once the type is ---, because none of
that is visible in the interface.
Setting the type to "---" is enough
Choosing --- and saving disables the meter completely. The IP address
and the serial number do not have to be cleared. The station only ever
reads those two fields for the type that is currently selected; with ---
selected they are stored but never used.
Leaving them in place has one practical advantage: selecting the old type again later restores the previous connection without re-entering anything.
Two things to expect when saving:
- The interface asks "No mains type selected → Smart charging will not be
active. Do you want to continue?" This is the normal confirmation for
---, not an error. Confirm it. - Saving restarts the station. The mains reader is stopped by that restart; there is no live switch-over without it.
The reverse case
A selected type with an empty IP address behaves exactly like ---: the
reader does not start and no grid values arrive. The interface does not warn
about this combination on every firmware, so a station that shows a type but
delivers no mains values should be checked for a missing IP address first.
The exceptions are SMA Energymeter and Remote Values, which do not need
an IP address.
Which settings still have an effect
| Setting | With Mains type --- |
|---|---|
| IP address, Serial number | Stored, not used |
| Mains fuse | Stored, no effect (see below) |
| Overcurrent/Eco (Stop charging) | Stored, no effect (see below) |
| Peak shave, ECO reference, ECO+ Pause Delay | Stored, no effect |
| Battery priority | Stored, no effect (needs a detected battery) |
| Max Current (Charging options) | Still limits the vehicle |
Mains fuse and overcurrent
The Mains fuse is not a cap on the charging current. The station uses it only
to compare the measured grid current on each phase against the fuse
rating, and reduces or pauses charging when the measurement exceeds it.
Without a meter there is no measurement: the grid current the station works
with is 0 A on every phase, which is never above the fuse. So a Mains fuse
of 50 A on a station with type --- is stored, still has to satisfy the
Max Current rule, but never triggers anything.
The only value that limits the vehicle on such a station is Max Current in the charging options.
Charge mode after disabling the meter
Set the charge mode to Power when the meter is disabled. ECO and ECO+ regulate the charging current against the measured grid surplus. Without a meter that surplus is permanently reported as below the ECO reference, and the station reduces the charging current step by step down to the minimum current and stays there. The vehicle then charges at the configured minimum current, not at Max Current.
This is what the "Smart charging will not be active" confirmation refers to. The charge mode is not changed automatically.
