# GoodWe

Part of the [compatibility overview](/integrations/compatibility), which lists every selectable Mains type.

Two types exist. Use `GoodWe (ModbusTCP)` when it appears in the list
(firmware 2.4.15 or newer); it is the recommended path for the current ET
platform. The UDP type remains selectable.

`GoodWe` (Modbus RTU over UDP):

* The inverter must answer on **UDP port 8899** and the network must pass UDP
traffic to it. The station addresses the inverter by its IP with Modbus
  device ID 247.
* The inverter's ARM firmware must be current; older firmware does not answer
on this port. Ask GoodWe support for an update if the inverter is on the
  series list but stays silent.
* A **GoodWe smart meter** (GM3000, GMK110) must be connected to the
inverter; the station reads the meter block from the inverter. Without a
meter it shows 0 W without an error.
* Series known to answer: BH, BT, EH, EM, EO, ES, ET, HT, SB, AB/AE/AR,
  EB/ER, UT, C&I.

`GoodWe (ModbusTCP)`:

* Modbus TCP on port 502, Unit ID 247 (GoodWe factory defaults, fixed).
* Covers the unified ET platform (ET, EH, BT, BH, ES G2 and related
hybrids) and DT string inverters without battery. First-generation ES and
  S-BP models are rejected.
* The GoodWe smart meter must be connected; without it the station reports
*smart meter not connected* and does not regulate.
* On installations with two batteries only the first battery is read.
