# Fronius GEN24 and Datamanager 2.0

Part of the [compatibility overview](/integrations/compatibility), which lists every selectable Mains type.

* A **Fronius Smart Meter at the grid connection point** is mandatory. On
GEN24 the station checks the meter location and reports *Meter is not
located on 'grid'* if the meter is in the feed-in path, and does not
  regulate.
* **Datamanager 2.0 with several smart meters** (from firmware 2.5.0): the
station uses the meter at the grid connection point (location *grid*),
also when further meters are installed, e.g. for an external generator.
Generator and sub-meters are never read as grid power. If the grid meter
is disabled or delivers no values, or if only generator or sub-meters are
installed, the station reports an error in the mains status instead of
reading another meter. Up to firmware 2.4.x the station reads the
first meter in the list and may regulate on wrong values without an
  error.
* **Datamanager 2.0 with only a meter in the consumption path** (location
*load*, from firmware 2.5.0): the station takes the grid power from the
inverter's power flow data, so PV surplus charging works. The per-phase
values still come from the meter and show the house consumption, not the
grid exchange. Up to firmware 2.4.x the station reads the house
consumption as grid draw, so PV surplus charging does not work.
* The **Solar API** must be enabled on the inverter (*Communication →
Solar API*). Recent GEN24 firmware ships with it disabled.
* Verto and Verto Plus share the GEN24 platform and are configured as
`Fronius Gen24`. Verto Plus is a hybrid inverter; its battery values are
  read.
* On a GEN24 without a battery, leave *Battery priority* disabled: the
station reports a battery with 0 W and 0 % for this type.
* Datamanager 2.0 covers the SnapINverter generation (Symo, Primo, Galvo,
Symo Hybrid). Battery values are available for the Symo Hybrid.
