# FENECON FEMS

Part of the [compatibility overview](/integrations/compatibility), which lists every selectable Mains type.

* The **REST/JSON** app must be installed on the FEMS. Leave the
communication type at *REST API*; Modbus TCP (port 502, Unit ID 1) is
available as an alternative. The station uses the app's default
credentials; do not change them on the FEMS.
* Only three values are read: total grid power, battery power and state of
charge. **Per-phase currents are not available**, so the mains fuse
protection cannot act on phase currents with this type.
* FEMS can additionally control the station over the station's REST API
(current limit, pause). That is configured on the FEMS side.

## Commissioning

Prerequisites: a station firmware that offers `Fenecon EMS` in the Mains
type list (see the [firmware download portal](/firmware/download-portal) if
the entry is missing), owner access to the FEMS, and both devices in the
same network.

1. **FEMS:** log in to the FEMS with the owner credentials, open *Settings →
Plant profile* and check that the **REST/JSON** app is installed. Install
   it if it is missing.
2. **Station:** under *Configuration → Mains options* set *Mains type* to
`Fenecon EMS` and enter the IP address of the FEMS. A *Fenecon
Configuration* block appears: leave *REST API* selected and disable the
*External heartbeat* option. Click *Save and reboot*.
3. **Check:** after the restart, compare the *Mains power* and *Battery*
values in the station's overview with the values in the FENECON app or
web portal. They should match. If they do not,
contact eCharge support before charging with ECO or ECO+.
4. Charge a vehicle in the different charging modes and watch that the
   station follows the surplus.
